(Austin, TX) — State Representative Jared Patterson urges the Biden Administration to formally recognize cartels as terrorist organizations. This action would allow the federal government to seize funds within their bank accounts.
In a recent interview, Governor Abbott detailed the millions of illegal border crossings as well as increased danger in the border region. According to the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration, 728 deaths occurred at the US-Mexico Border in 2021, and the death toll for 2022 is at 493 as of July of this year. This information is in part why the United Nations have now recognized the U.S.-Mexico border, as the “deadliest land crossing in the world”.
“I’m grateful for Governor Abbott’s leadership and sacrifice to provide border security through Operation Lone Star during the current record-breaking illegal immigration,” said Rep. Patterson. “Unfortunately, the continued neglect of responsibility and refusal to secure the border from the Biden Administration has caused many consequences to Texas and it’s residents. I urge the Biden Administration to change course and recognize the cartels as terrorists to protect the American people from the danger occurring at the border.”
